Especially for the photos, I was looking for a good screen, not too large. So 15,4" WSXGA+ 1680x1050 was my choice , I may now confirm , the screen is nice . I tested Wifi , but not all the other hardware devices : bluetooth, firewire, External media controls ..... |

This laptop is operating under Kernel version 2.6.12-12mdksmp .
No absolute proof, but with the default setup of the BIOS, the machine freezes totally when I need a lot of CPU ... Very strange!
I suspect the "Intel SpeedStep mode" . Turned OFF in the BIOS and the freeze disappears...
Other test with "Intel SpeedStep mode= ON" and multicore Suppport = OFF, and a generic kernel 12-12mdk (without SMP ), the freeze is the same.
Of course, except in dreams, the installation does not detect the resolution of the screen (1680x1050)
Drakxconf of Mandriva selects "vesa" driver ; the only one which works in Mandriva.
The detected resolution is 1280x1024 and works normally... But a little picture in a large black screen is really horrible !...
There are certainly lots of solutions. The first I find is the very efficient program , for Intel chipset , "915resolution",
and the whole screen is colored , ..... thank the autors.

Before starting X , I use the command: "./915resolution 5a 1680 1050 32 "
"./915resolution -l " gives us the final status:
